my little dreamer

We went to the beach today! It was great, and Sam had a good time except for the part about that sand. Yeah, about that... Well, I think he was a bit tired and it was pretty windy (welcome to Rhode Island). That probably didn't really help. To be perfectly honest, we had a little meltdown together after the beach. He was super duper grumpy about staying and then even grumpier about leaving. I told him we would go for a walk with the stroller after driving to a better walking place. I don't know what it is, but he just doesn't get the whole "not now, but soon" thing. Oh, wait, I forget he's only two sometimes!! Anyway, I pulled over to get out of the car and take a little mommy break for a minute. He took a baby break in the car. After that we kissed and made up. He was okay with driving to a better place after that.

Our better place was Ace Hardware. We got some hardware and went on our way. Sam was much happier this time around and almost fell asleep on the drive home, but I fed him crackers to keep him awake so he'd take a good nap at home. Naptime proved to be another messy meltdown type thing, but we got through that by cuddling on the rocking chair until he fell asleep. Then it was off to dreamland for Sam.

When I went in to get him up, do you what know the first thing he said to me was? "Dreams, mommy" with a smile on his face. I always ask him if he had any dreams and sometimes he says yes. He tells us he dreams of buses. Yesterday I actually explained to him what a dream was, that it's like watching shows in your sleep. So, it was so sweet and so interesting that he told me he dreamed during his nap.

I hope he has sweet dreams of places like this:

Taken on our drive home from the beach. Don't worry Peter dear, I pulled over to take the picture!

Ugh for windy beaches, they are the worst!

I love the idea that Sam dreams and can tell you about them (when he can remember them:) It's something I always wonder about Klein, what he's dreaming about. Also, I heard you only remember dreams if you wake up in the middle of them... I don't know but I love it!
